hors d'oeuvres

Looking for a little extra help with the food for your holiday parties? There is no shame in calling in the professionals. Here are some of our favorite catering sources for all kinds of social events. Be sure to call early before all the good ones are taken:

Classic Catering – Classic offers full service catering as well as their very popular “Classic-to-Go” pick up and delivery service. Their menu is many pages long, but just a heads-up that their Boneless Short Ribs are a sure winner with any gathering. Terri Young

Linwood’s– Not only do they offer full service catering directly to your home, but they also have a party room right at the restaurant. The restaurant is the “go to” place for special occasions, but if you want to party at home, call Tali We are loving their Lobster Tempura, Shrimp & Grits and Grilled Tenderloin Salad with Crispy Onions.

Sascha’s – Another wonderful source for delicious, creative party food. Available as drop off or full service catering. Everyone knows Sascha prepares amazing food. Just think how your guests will react when they see the custom Risotto Station — yeah, pretty cool. Reach out to Jane Pruitt

Rouge Catering – We love their variety of food and the convenience of picking up directly from their Hunt Valley commissary. Maybe you’re in the mood for a “comfort foods” party? Don’t miss the Bacon Deviled Eggs, Burger and Fry Slider, and Buttermilk Chicken and Waffles. Hungry yet? Emily Albert

Putting on the Ritz – Owner Bobby Mitchell prepares wonderful entrees and sides at a reasonable price. We especially love the friendly and hard working staff. Try some cold weather cocktail nibbles like Ritz Reubens, Petite Beef Wellingtons and Melted Brie Cups with Pears.

Cristi Barry Cuisine – The queen of house parties makes the most delicious crab dip we have ever tasted. She makes all the favorites like grilled tenderloin and tomato/mozzarella salad too. Be sure to get your order in early and don’t forget the homemade decadent chocolate cake.

This week has been a roller coster of ups and downs to say the least in Baltimore. We love our city and we chose to focus on the wonderful aspects such as all the people coming together to clean up after the protests. One of the ways some of our couples show their love for Baltimore are custom hotel gift bags. The bags are filled with food, water, information about the wedding festivities and Advil, of course, for their hangovers. The gifts are a really fun way to welcome your out-of-town guests and share your hometown favorites with them. Some of our Baltimore favorites are Berger Cookies, Popsations popcorn, Goetze’s Caramel, Jeppi Nut, Mouth Party Caramels, Fisher’s Popcorn, Baltimore Coffee, National Bohemian, Otterbein’s cookies, and Glauber’s chocolate crabs.  Every city has companies that are headquartered in their backyard so research your city to find your favorites.

When planning a party at home you have a few options for the food.

The easiest option is to hire a caterer. The caterer will bring and prepare the food, handle staff, take care of the rentals, and clean up at the end of the night.

If you’re budget doesn’t allow for a caterer, but you can’t imagine preparing all of the food yourself, you have another option.  Many larger caterers have a “To-Go” option.  You order the food ahead of time and either pick it up or have it delivered to the party location.

Like the idea of the food, but still can’t image dealing with the service part?  Hire a few wait staff to handle the food presentation and clean up.

And, of course, you can always handle everything yourself!
